Introduction
Welcome to Dopia — what it is, why it works differently from the CRM you have used before, and what this chapter will teach you.
Welcome to Dopia.
Dopia is an agentic revenue engine: a system built for startups and small sales teams whose job is to grow revenue, not to keep a database tidy. It captures what happens with your customers, keeps the record current on its own, and does a growing share of the work in between — so your hours go to the conversations that actually close deals.
This chapter is your orientation. By the end of it you will know what Dopia does without being asked, where everything lives on screen, and how to connect it to the tools you already run on. Read it straight through — each article picks up where the last one stopped.
Start with the CRM you already know
You have almost certainly used one, so you know the bargain it asks for. It gives you a place to keep everything, and in return you keep it fed. Log the call. Move the stage. Write the note. Set the next step.
The trouble is that the bargain only holds when you are not busy. Have a good week — five calls a day, a deal going live, an inbox you are actually working — and the logging is the first thing to go. Four days later the pipeline report is fiction. The CRM was never wrong; it only ever knew what you told it.
So the tool that was supposed to give you leverage becomes one more thing chasing you.
Dopia takes that job back. You do not feed it. It reads what already happens — your mail, your meetings, your calls, your payments — and builds the record out of that.
What that changes
Three things follow, and they are what the rest of this chapter is about.
Your CRM fills itself. Connect your mailbox and Dopia reads back about a year of mail and meetings. A few minutes later the companies you have been emailing are companies, the people at them are contacts, and your live threads are deals with a stage, a value and a close date. You typed none of it, and there was never a blank first screen to stare at.
Every customer gets a memory that lasts. Each new email, meeting and call is read against everything that came before it rather than filed next to it. So the answer to "where are we with Acme" is not a folder you have to reconstruct — it is one continuous account of what was asked, what you promised, and what actually happened. That memory is what the AI reads before it does anything on your behalf, and it is why its work comes back specific to the deal instead of generic.
Work gets done between your conversations. Dopia researches a buyer before you meet them, prepares your day, rewrites the record after a call, and drafts the follow-up you were dreading. Some of it it simply does; the rest it proposes and waits. Anything that would reach a customer in your name always stops for your approval — you stay the one who decides what a customer sees.
One place to look
You will not have to go hunting for any of this. Where you stand, the lower panel on Home, carries two things side by side: how you are doing against your number this period, and everything asking for you right now — a move an agent is proposing, something it noticed in a thread, a report after a sync finishes. It fills up because something happened, not because you went looking.
Read it once in the morning and once before you stop. That is most of the discipline the old CRM demanded, handed back.
It runs on what you already use
There is nothing to migrate.
- Gmail or Outlook, with your calendar — the one connection everything else depends on. This is where the conversations come from. See Why Dopia needs your email and calendar.
- Stripe — read-only. Your paying customers arrive as records, your subscriptions as deals, and your revenue counts toward your target from real payments rather than from what someone remembered to log. See Where your revenue number comes from.
- Your meetings — recorded from the Mac app, with no bot joining the call.
No import, and no schema to design before you get anything back.
Next: a tour of the product
Now that you know what Dopia is doing for you, let me show you where it all is. A tour of Dopia walks the Home screen and the sidebar once, so that from here on the handbook can name a place and assume you know it.
